Camp Lake Chi-KO started back in 1957 as Camp Lakeside held in Union, Michigan. Taken from Lakeside’s 1956-1957 Annual Report, read the report written by Camp Director: Kei Ogasawara - “Camp Lakeside 1957”.
The following year (1958) Camp Lakeside became Camp Lake-Chi-Co. The two particpating churches, Lakeside and Japanese Church of Jesus Christ (known to many of us today as Devon Church of Jesus Christ, DCJC) formed a camp Board of Director’s. Throughout it’s 50+ years we would be joined by two other churches Chicago Chinese Union Church (CCUC) and Church of Christ Presbyterian (CCP). In 1978, Camp Lake-Chi-Co became Camp Lake-Chi-KO in honor of the Camp’s very first director Kei Ogasawara.
Today, Camp Lake-Chi-KO continues to provide a place for the youth to strengthen and revitalize their “Walking With Jesus”.
In honor of 50+ years post a comment telling us how Camp Lake Chi-KO has impacted your life. We would love to hear from you! Camp Lake Chi-KO’s Journal
